To the florist for a Bonsai tree
Trim, trim, trim
Ended up with a single limb

“I will get a cat after my namesake”
Died, even though Gus applied the Jake Brake
Buried it with the tree
Calico thought “What’s next for me?”

Joined some ladies for bridge
Alas, her IQ a little smidge
The catty housewives of the foursome
Had the gall to tell her, “You’re too dumb”

Not a quitter, she didn’t get bitter
She always liked Hollywood and the glitter
Calico joined the local theater club
Of course, she had to start as a sub

First production of the season
A musical that stands to reason
They let her audition for a singing role
Calico’s voice reflected her gracious soul

She was given the leading lady part
The ex-queen of Kmart
Opening night, she took three encores
For her “When it rains, it pours"

So, Calico found her niche
They told her she had perfect pitch
From there, she went on to bigger things
Branson and the Passion Play, Eureka Springs

This is the latest on our six-toed turtle dove
She now has a following and they all love
For her to sing sweet soulful songs
She has found where she belongs
